Lorien looses her tooth
Lorien lost one of her top front teeth this Tuesday. She was very excited, and after showing it off to everyone, immediately placed her tooth in a kleenex and hid it under her pillow. The next morning, she was amazed to find 2 quarters in the kleenex. Since we don't do the "tooth fairy", she knew that Monte or I had slipped her the money. She asked how we could be so sneaky. She said she had lain awake "all night" waiting to catch us! Little did she know that we had actually forgotten to do it. Daddy pulled a little slight-of-hand when he went in to say good-morning just as she was waking up.
Ah yes, then about two hours after I took this picture, she lost the other front tooth!

How much does Vala like powdered doughnuts?
Tonight, the small group was over for supper and prayer. As things were winding down, I walked back into the kitchen and was greeted by a two year old with a face full of powdered sugar. Vala was carrying the bag of powdered doughnuts. "All done, doughnuts." she stated, matter-a-factly. I looked in the bag. It was completely empty!
I took her back into the living room and we all had a big laugh as we tried to figure out how many doughnuts had been left in the bag and how many she must have eaten. A couple of minutes later, I walked back into the kitchen to throw the bag away, only to find her chomping into another powdered doughnut that someone had left on their plate. I said "Vala NO!" and ran over to grab it from her, but she saw me coming and shoved it into her mouth as fast as she could. I managed to get 1/4th of the doughnut from her before it made it into her mouth. It was slobbery, so I figured whoever was the owner of the doughnut probably wouldn't want it anymore. I threw it in the trash.
I realized that in the midst of all the commotion, I had failed to think to tell her not to eat anymore. I tried not to laugh as I said, "No more doughnuts."
"Otay." she said. I washed her hands and face and sent her scampering off into the other room. The ladies and I all had another good laugh as I was cleaning up and they were getting hats and coats on younger children. We had just been talking about the tenacity of some children as opposed to others and how to deal with stubbornness, etc. I rinsed the rag out in the sink and turned around just in time to catch Vala, hand still holding the garbage lid open, shoving the last quarter of the doughnut into her mouth!

Nessa
Alright, so I kind of forgot to post anything. I'm a bad mother! But, here she is. Nessa Faith Miller was born on August 30th at 10:52PM 7lbs 7oz . . . . and now she's four months old! :) She is such a good baby, for which I am so thankful. I've been a bit overwhelmed with five, but the Lord has taught me so much and continues to reveil to me more of what is really in my heart (Yuck!!) and then change my heart. Praise Him for His patience with me . . . as I am learning to have patience with my children.

Happy Birthday Vala!
Vala is one! She's walking, talking (a few words only mom can understand), and destined to be the class clown! Since we homeschool, I guess that means the family clown. She LOVES to find out what makes people laugh and do it over and over again. She's also begun the dreaded tantrums whenever something doesn't go her way. Lord help us to discipline with wisdom and guide her little heart to You!
